Directions

A good fluoride mouthwash does far more than just freshen your breath. It helps protect your enamel, supports gum health, and plays an important role in keeping your mouth feeling clean and healthy between brushes.

Used as part of a good routine, it helps fight cavities, supports enamel strength and rinses areas that can be harder to reach with brushing alone.

When Should You Use It?

Timing matters more than most people realise. After brushing, your teeth are coated with fluoride from your toothpaste, and that fluoride needs time to work its magic. If you rinse with mouthwash straight after brushing, you’re washing away all the good stuff.

Instead, wait at least 20 to 30 minutes, or use your mouthwash at another time entirely, after lunch, for example. It’s a small change, but it helps you get the best out of both your toothpaste and your mouthwash.

A fluoride mouthwash can help prevent tooth decay. It complements brushing and cleaning between your teeth.
When should I use mouthwash?

Overall, the best time to use mouthwash will depend on your personal preferences and oral hygiene routine. As long as you use it in combination with regular brushing and flossing, mouthwash wil  be a valuable addition to your oral care routine.

NHS guidance states:  "Using a mouthwash that contains fluoride can help prevent tooth decay, but don't use mouthwash (even a fluoride one) straight after brushing your teeth or it'll wash away the concentrated fluoride in the toothpaste left on your teeth."  
Can using mouthwash replace flossing and brushing?

Absolutely not. In order to have good oral hygiene you should be thoroughly brushing your teeth twice daily. You should also have regular check ups with a dentist and professional cleaning by a hygienist or dentist. Mouthwash when used in combination with brushing and flossing, can be an effective way to maintain good oral hygiene.

How do I recycle my mouthwash bottle?

Empty the bottle and check your local recycling instructions for the bottle, cap and label.
Are your mouthwashes suitable for children?

We don't recommend any of our mouthwashes for children under 7 years old. Adult toothpastes and mouthwashes commonly contain more fluoride than products for younger children as there is a risk that they will swallow the product. Adult products also tend to have a stronger minty flavour that may be challenging for younger taste buds.
